Sharing Stories about Peter

Peter was definitely a 'character' by any standards. Most people who know him have a startling story or two (or three). Of course, he didn't mind cultivating an air of eccentricity... one of his favorite games was to tell elaborate fictions about his life, which could sometimes get him into hot water, but never failed to amuse.

From childhood (10 years old?).... the exploding soda incident.

So, I was at his parents house on Westwood Road once (they were not home), and a delivery of Hosmer Mountain soda arrives. Peter selects a large bottle of root beer and says, "check this out!".

I follow him to the kitchen sink. Peter begins shaking the bottle violently. Placing it in the sink, he takes a churchkey and flips off the top. Immediately a spectacular geyser of brown, foamy soda pop erupts, in slow motion, from the neck and climbs to the acoustic tile ceiling. We are both in awe.

Ten minutes later his folks get home and give him hell for the large brown stain over the sink, which they never could get out... it remained there decades later.
