Peter H Cummings - VOX OFF - Tracks and Commentary

Peter recorded a fair amount of word-free music in his life, tho it always took a back seat to his lyrical songs. Still, as he progressed in his musical journey, he became more and more interested in the exploration of "pure" music; Music divorced of the concrete associations that lyrics can impose, and opening up a more open-ended, free-associative connection with the listener's imagination.

These pieces show a range of interesting musical moods and styles. Some of it is loosely intended as film music- Soundtrack concepts were another direction he was delving into in his later years.

Peter' s Reggae (E-Bow stuff) 2:09 Bouncy, upbeat number 8. Monsters In The Rain 1:27 Atmospheric. 9. Sad Thing 1:03 Wistful. 10. Nice Piano Song 1:22 A pleasant piece, as the title says. 11. Safety For Hubert 13:01 This is something of a companion to "Lavender Mindblast" in that it's a lengthy, improvisational instrumental that takes it's cues from a certain altered state. They both impart that heady deep quality of being on a cereberal excursion. The "Hubert" in the title was taken from a Vivian Stanshall character.
